How to Host a Golf Day Using Chip n Win

Organising a golf day? Whether it's for a society, charity, workplace or just a big day out with your regular fourball, one thing's for sure: you want it to be fun, smooth, and memorable. That’s exactly where Chip n Win shines.

This poker chip-style game isn’t just easy to learn — it adds entertainment, friendly rivalry, and hilarious moments throughout the round. In this post, we'll show you exactly how to structure a golf day around Chip n Win.

Step 1: Get Your Sets Ready

Each Chip n Win set includes:

  • 16 custom poker-style chips (8 green for good shots, 8 red for bad)
  • Carry pouch with carabiner
  • Instruction card

1 set = 1 group of 2, 3 or 4 players. For larger golf days, just match the number of sets to the number of groups.

Society packs and bulk discounts available.

Step 2: Brief the Players (Quickly)

Before the round, gather everyone for a short briefing. Here’s what to explain:

  • If you hit a shot that matches a chip (e.g. a Birdie), take that chip.
  • If someone else hits the same shot later, they take the chip from you.
  • Green chips = good (score positive points)
  • Red chips = bad (score negative points)
  • Tally up your chips at the end of the round. Highest score wins.

No app, no waiting. Just real-time gameplay that fits straight into a normal round.

Step 3: Decide Your Scoring Format

You can keep it simple or layer it into your day. Here are a few options:

Option 1: Standalone Game

Use Chip n Win as its own leader board. Chip points only. Award prizes for:

  • Highest Chip n Win score
  • Most red chips
  • Most green chips

Option 2: Bonus Scoring

Add Chip n Win scores on top of Stableford or Medal scoring. Great for rewarding all-round performance.

Option 3: Team Format

Tally total chips per team and create a team leader board. You can even assign jokers or forfeits to red chip holders.

Step 4: Add Prizes and Banter

Make the game even better with small prize categories like:

  • Chip n Win Champion (highest total)
  • Red Chip Collector (ouch)
  • Green Machine (most green chips)
  • Most Stolen Chip

Encourage fun and light roasting during the ceremony. It’s all part of the experience.

Step 5: Share the Highlights

After the round, get photos of:

  • Players holding their chips
  • End-of-round chip counts
  • Laughs and handovers
