If you’re planning a golf society day, you know it’s about more than just the golf. It’s about laughs, banter, competition, and memories. But let’s be honest — if the format and prizes are the same every time, things can start to feel a bit... routine.
That’s where a few simple changes and ideas can turn a decent day into a memorable one. Here are some fun, fresh, and effective golf society day ideas to level up your next event — including one that brings the game to life in a whole new way.
Introduce Chip n Win – Golf's Side Game With a Twist
Chip n Win adds fun on every hole. It’s a poker chip-style game you play during the round.
Each player group gets a set of 16 chips:
- 8 green for good shots (Birdie, One Putt, Sand Save, etc.)
- 8 red for bad ones (3 Putts, Lost Ball, Water, etc.)
As shots happen, players pass the chips around. It adds pressure, laughs, and drama. At the end of the round, players tally their chips — green adds points, red subtracts. Highest score wins.
You can even:
- Use Chip n Win as its own prize category
- Combine with team formats or Stableford
- Create forfeits or challenges for red chip holders!
End with a Group Recap or Chip Count Ceremony
After the round, gather players for a quick “recap ceremony”:
- Who got the Eagle chip?
- Who held onto the 3 Putts all day?
- Award small bonus prizes based on chip count
It’s a great way to bring the day full circle.
